Façades & Vitrines is a book project designed by Tim Bisschop, centred around photography by Stephan Vanfleteren . For the past decade, Stephan has been photographing decrepit shop fronts and display windows around Belgium, cataloguing the decline of several towns and their amenities.
These photographs have now been collated into a limited run of 666 books, each one bound in lead with a gorgeous embossed, typographic cover. The books were exhibited in a “wall” at a show in Budafabriek, Kortrijk, which required readers to peel back the lead fixtures to get their hands on a copy, resulting in a scene not unlike the locations Stephan photographed.
