This gorgeous number by Acne Studios is a book curated by writer and photographer Vince Aletti. In the 1940s and 50s, photographer Bruce Bellas, aka Bruce of Los Angeles pioneered the idea of the ‘beefcake’, a hunky, eroticised vision of masculinity, through his photography of nude males. Bruce of Los Angeles Rodeo is a counterpart to Bellas’ work, serving up a selection of real American cowboys, this time all fully clothed.
Printed on Japanese paper in a limited run of 500 numbered copies, each one is presented in a simple corrugated cardboard box and slip case. I think you’ll agree, it’s wonderful work!
