experimental publication design inspiration

Inspired by the French philosopher Michel De Certeau’s theory that “Every story is a travel”, Manchester-based graphic designer Amber Hulme created a tactile publication that attempts to replicate the immersive nature of a story.

Rather than reading words, instead the reader can feel a series of different textures and sensations that words would describe, thanks to the raised flocked patterns and ‘paths’ within the pages.
