Masks of Fear: A look at Wired Italy’s conspicuous cover

Look out for this special edition of Wired magazine (Italy), released to celebrate their recent SPD award for International Magazine of the Year, and produced with guest editor Nadya Tolokonnikova of the Russian punk band Pussy Riot. The issue itself was designed by Pitis.

The cover for this edition features artwork by Australia-based artist Heath Kane. The front cover is a fold-out which consists of an eye-catching image of Vladamir Putin in a Pussy Riot balaclava, alongside Donald Trump in a Lucha Libre Mexican wrestler mask.

The imagery is taken from Kane’s Masks of Fear series that defaces imagery of world leaders through overprinted masks.
