One of the things I love about running this blog is the diverse mix of work I get submitted for consideration (want to be featured? Submit your own).

It ranges from modern designs with clean layouts and perfect typography, to more relaxed, expressive work, that’s a little ‘rougher around the edges’.

These books by Italian print-maker Valeria Brancaforte are a great example of the latter. Valeria draws and cuts the linoleum plates for each page, hand-pulls prints a page (and a colour) at a time, before finally hand-binding each book.

The lino-print technique gives each page a slightly messy, appearance, which works perfectly with the illustration and typographic style (which I adore!).
